Hip Hop is dead . . . it's been murdered . . . by current "rap stars"?

Akon . . . T-Pain . . . Shop Boyz . . . D4L . . . Pretty Ricky . . . etc. etc. etc. etc. all these people have one thing in common . . . they all teamed up to murder Hip Hop. It kills me to listen to the radio and hear mutha****** singin their rap songs about clubs and bartenders or how they party. What happened?!?!?!? Is Hip Hop really a dance club now? The music they produce is not Hip Hop, it's pop music.

Then I heard this track called "Put me in the pocket" and I promise it made me want to run up to the radio station and . . .

Let me know what yall think . . .are artists like these responsible for murderin hip hop?

Hip Hop is dead . . . it's been murdered . . . by current "rap stars"?
yes. sadly i have to agree with you. the culture of hip hop has been diluted by many of these artists. Not only are their lyrics and 'flow' ridiculously redundant, it fails to exemplify many aspects of hiphop/rap. It's people like these that really bring a bad name to hiphop. I wish it were like the old days... where nas, jayz, game, big, or eminem...
Reply:Dj Premier, The Roots, and Dilated Peoples%26lt;- Seem like the only real hip hop left..
Reply:LOL, man thats funny. When I tell people who I dont know that I like hip hop, then the stuff like you just listed comes on the radio, I get embarrased. When I say hip hop, this is not what Im talking about, but people have taken the term hip hop and "pimped it out". Now it looks like theres a bunch of clowns in hip hop. The other stuff should be called HIP-POP.
Reply:na i dont think so, i agree tho they can do better, and have done better, but murdered it?? com'on thats a lil extreme and obviously they didnt ppl r lisetening to them
Reply:i totally agree with you, many rap artist now lack substance in their lyricks. some just put together sentences together and rhyme. i think people just like the tracks being played and the rappers voices
Reply:yeah all these artists that you mentioned are just plain garbage and some people actually like this garbage and its sucks so bad and i can't understand how the artists are blowing up when i know damn well they are just gonna fall of fast.
Reply:i know it seems sad, but the **** i love and grew up with was corny new-age pop music BS rap at one point to my elders. but no way, this **** today is horrible.
Reply:!!!!!!!!! HIP HOP IS ALIVE AND KICKING !!!!!!!!!!W

Who ever wrote this question is stupid their are heaps of great rapper and coming and some old ones still around like Krs One with his new CD with Marley marl,Afu Ra,,Jeru the Damaja who's new Cd's about hit and is legend in my mind, you have Talib Kweli,Mos Def,Immortal Technique %26amp; the whole viper crew(Diabolic%26amp;Akir) who are all just starting out Chief Kamachi who i only learned about a short while ago he has good beats and some sick lyrics The Deceptikonz but hip hop is just going through a phase with all the new up and coming stars just starting to break into their. You will always have your fake mc's like 50 cent who only ryhmes with arh 50 arh bentley arh you know but if you where real into hip hop you would find the good mc's and weed out the crap rapper.to anyone who thinks hip hop is dead you totally wrong you just arnt looking in the right places
Reply:You can't just blame the artists. When record companies see someone that is popular and has a song that people like they try and find 20 more artists just like them. This stops creativity and variety. If people can dance to it it will make money. They see that and try to make all their artists make "club songs." They don't care about lyrics. New artists see this and think its they only way they will make money so they think its okay to write sons about their cars, clothes, and houses.
Reply:Yeah they all suck they just ride the real rappers sticks when a tite cd comes out they all jack the whole thing.Like this one fool said Patron and now how many times do I hear patron or in the club
Reply:The rappers are willing to say whatever to get paid. The music industry thinks that sex and drama sell better than just good music, so the pop music rappers play into the negative stereotypes. But it's not just their fault alone.

There are still plenty of true Hip Hop artists out there who make good music. You'll just never see it on BET/MTV or hear it on the radio. That's because the record labels want to sell a front, and if you don't go with the flow, or if you try to have a message, or aren't 'edgy' enough, or don't have what they call "street cred", then you're considered corny, and they won't sign you. (MIND YOU that the only 'hood' these people actually know is the one on their cars!)

Major labels don't look for talented artists. They look for gimmicks that they can market. That's why pop rappers don't last after thier single is played out. Example: Where are Dem Franchise Boyz now? I guess they didn't like you.
Reply:ill agree on everyone ecept AKON i think hes got talent and his songs are very creative
Reply:Mainstream so called hip-hop like you said is dying, but hip-hop as a whole is not so bad off. If you turn off your radio you can actually find some quality underground hip-hop that's thriving. Like I've been saying, hip-hop ain't dead its alive on the Internet
Reply:I hope it stays dead. Hip hop isn't music. No talent involved what so ever. Maybe I'll be like the Master and spam and talk about music I don't even like? He always spams in the pop- rock section.
