Why is Hip-Hop so dead?

my god, hip-hop is dead

been dead since Tang Clan broke up

Nas can really change this but he admitted that hip-hop is dead

Now all i listen these days are the 90's REAL hip-hop

I still mourn for Pac and Biggie.

These songs like "soulja boy" and "low", it a shame to the hip-hop world.

Why is Hip-Hop so dead?
I agree. It seems not to have any meaning anymore... And all the GOOD rappers died or retired.
Reply:Lupe will eventually save us...Hip-Hop saved My Life is premiering on BET anytime now on 106 %26amp; park...plus ice cube, nas, kanye, and talib kweli will keep it alive....hopefully..
Reply:its a new generation. evrybody like old skool but alot of the new sh*t iz good. soulja boi sukz and so duz the song low.

and pac and biggie did rap not hip hop
Reply:Money killed Hip Hop. When artists saw the big money in rhyming about nothing it was over. Everybody became rappers and didn't rhyme anymore. Wu, Nas, Dre, RedMan and others brought it back in the early to mid 90's after Hammer almost destroyed it but we can thank Puffdiddy for bringing back rap to stay. Hip Hop has died and was resurrected as rap. Don't get mad but Jay Z also helped kill it with his money whoring and everybody followed his blueprint.
Reply:No its not dead you just have to searchfor the real hip hop better known as the underground.those songs fall into the hip pop section.A great man once said hip hop isnt a genre its a life style and hip pop is nothin but a bunch of wannabes recordin a song they wrote in less than 5 minutes
Reply:You are right to some point, but hip hop is not dead YET. There's still real rappers out here keeping it alive. Jay Z, Nas, Ludacris, kanye west, and many others are not killing rap/hip hop. It just seems that way because of ringtone rappers like soulja boy and flo rida who make songs only fit for strip clubs.
Reply:i wouldnt say its dead.

soulja boy is mainstream radio ****.

yea there use to be a time where nas, pac, immortal, wu tang, krs-one, the firm, cormega, and all them other rappers use to hit the radios. these days, its about making money...quick.

look at common, he barely has any awards to his name and yet i've enjoyed every CD of his (except electric circus...that was weird). he has to get kanye to get acknowledged (so sad)

Joe Budden is one of my favorites. his delivery is crazy (3 sides to a story %26amp; dumb out....old but very well done).

listen to his mood muzik tapes....thats all i need in life

it's sad when i dont feel like listening to anything but illmatic because nothing else is worth my time.

brown sugar (the movie w/ taye diggs %26amp; sanaa lathan) said it best with "the difference between rap and hip hop is the difference between saying ‘I love you’ to someone and actually being in love with someone; One is just a word."

rap is just a word.....people throw it around. the rappers who rap today throw it around. they dont know about real hip-hop. the breakdancing, graffitti and beatboxing. time's have changed, the music has changed. sometimes change is good but in this case, the people who crave the tight deliveries accompanied with a tight beat are suffering from soulja boy.....a teenager that cant even finish the words in his song "waa mee roowl" and apparently we're suppose to be mad at him because he has some bape shoes on....?

As for nas changing the game (hip hop is dead was a ill), he tried....he has Quan. i dont know if you heard quan on ill wills mixtape but he had some serious stuff on there. he's got a few mixtapes and if he and nas can break this mainstream crap then it'll be over!

all of the serious rappers arent taken seriously. they can't compete in record sales to soulja boy, hurrican chris (A BAY BAY) and all other people who drop songs and get signed onto labels because they can move a couple thousand units.

look at jkwon....he's been off he radar since errybody in the club got tipsy. papoose signed with gunit so there goes hope in him.

i dunno.....i wish it would come back. until hip hop revives itself.....i'll just listen to underground and my cds.
Reply:hip hops coming back dude, theres new artists that im hearing like a song i heard from hangar 18 just before, was hot. Talib kweli, nas and others like immortal technique keep it alive, theres still that light there and we gotta keep it real
Reply:What are you retarded????

Wu-tang is together again, i seen them at a concert (Bumbershoot)

And its not dead, its just that your dumbaas listens to the radio.
Reply:it's not just hip hop, fans of other genres feel that music is dead too. it's the music business as a whole--it needs to change.
Reply:Hip Hop Is Not Dead, Reffering To Biggie And 2 Pac, Ar eNow considered Old school Rap/ Hip hop, Personnaly i like Low And Crank Dat, It's Just what Alot Of People Like, And Underground Is A Music Video/ Song Not Supported By An Agency.

Reply:REASON HIP HOP IS DIEING

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfCmYyG-y...

AND NAS DIDN'T SAY HIP HOP IS DEAD........LISTEN TO WHAT HE SAYZ

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9vYDJCm6...

"If hip hop should die before I wake

I'll put an extended clip inside of my AK

Roll to every station, murder the DJ"

HAS HE MURDER ANY DJ'S LATELY??....NO MEENING HE DIDN'T SAY HIP HP IS DEAD
Reply:Not dead changed

i like that word better it lets me sleep at night

listen to underground!
Reply:its because most people who buy music are young and they don't understand the meaning of good music all they want to see is stupid booty shaking videos and dumb nursery rhymes remade into songs it really is a shame and i am a singer and its hard for people to relate to my songs because their minds are so tainted they are only wanting to hear the wack music
Reply:its not dead. its just dat there are all theese people who think hip-hop is offensive and violent. They are the vocal minority.
Reply:r u crazy.......

hip hop has evolved so much...there are so many different types of rap its crazy...and soulja boy and low r very mainstream...stay away from the radio.....

there are tons of new mixtapes w new songs from old artists.....

wu has a new cd...

i think u need to be more open minded...new hip hop is way better....get w the times....i hate ppl that only listen to old rap all the time.
Reply:Hip Hop is dead because 50 cent

lil wayne

what happend to mc hmmer salt n peper
Reply:hip hop isnt dead you just dont listen to the right songs and stuff you just gotta find the good ones...and just like bammccaw said you cant listen to the radio and its bull they dont play the good side of hip hop
