Hip Hop that isn't dead?

I have been into rock music for most of my life and recently i was turned on to the soulful hip hop sounds of Common. I really dont like much other popular hip hop, other than Common and Kanye West. I can't stand the dance hip hop and all that stuff...if there are any other good rappers with the sort of meaningful lyrics and cool sound let me know! Thanks

Hip Hop that isn't dead?
i agree, however i LOVE rap.

the dances, like Crank that, are bad signs of rap. stuff Like kanye, common, 2pac, biggie, rakim, nas. theyre the REAL symbols of rap.
Reply:Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Hieroglyphics, and A Tribe Called quest are some of my favorites.

pandora.com is a great site to expand your musical knowledge
Reply:Lupe fiasco is very lyrical and his subject matter is unmatched. He is from Chicago like Kanye and Common. One of my favs by him is "dumb it down". Listen to it!
Reply:I mostly listen to the older hip hop....2pac, biggie...eminem back in the day....jay-z....Big L....

but if you want good artists today....Immortal Technique, Kanye West (he's really an average rapper but he has an original sound, plus he's a great producer)....Joe Budden...
Reply:Well, I'm not sure there are a lot of other rappers out there like Common. But I like this young dude called D. Lopes. He's just startin his Rap Career compared to others.

He's pretty good. Especially if your from the Boston areas, then his songs really relate to you.
Reply:Chamillionaire. Ultimate Victory was argueably the best album to come out last year. Completly amazing. He is one great lyricist. Ultimate Victory was the first Hardcore Rap/Hip-Hop album not to carry the parental advisory sticker. Check it out.
Reply:Look up GOOD Music. it stands for getting out our dreams also. Theres a site. There are many artists that still keep real hip hop alive. The people you like...Kanye west common mos def talib kweli...many others
Reply:Listen up, son - hip hop isn't dead, it just peaked from 1989 to 1995...

Check out The Goats and the Pharcyde for some real smooth tracks, and leave the Kayne crap to the 12 year old girls..Peace...
Reply:Immortal Technique

You will NOT be disappointed.

I recommend the songs Dance With The Devil and You Never Know
