"Hip hop is dead" statement, formentioned?

Krs-One said, "boom by by, hip hop will never die!"

Talib Kweli Said, "where were you the day hip hop died, is it too early to mourn, is it too late to rise?"

Now nas states hip hop is dead, in 2006.

So when do you think that nas actually thinks it died, in 2000, before, or around this time when releasing his album. And, why do you think that there wasnt the same controversy that we are gettin about "hip hop dying" in 2000 on talibs album, reflection eternal?

"Hip hop is dead" statement, formentioned?
Yup Your Right The way I see it, it had to be Nas to put out such a controversial album. He has enough mainstream acceptance to do such. If someone like Mos Def or Common put out Hip-Hop Is Dead, BET would ban him and everyone would dismiss him as a petty hater. If a really underground MC like El-P or Chino XL did it, it would get almost NO attention.
Reply:hip hop is not dead...just commercial crap that people now a days consider to be hip hop is not and is a bunch of negative unartistic untalented crap.. my 2yr old son can come up with better material, but it's their audience that support them and make them seem like a big deal cause they don't know any better...and think just cause it's mainstream it's good hip hop...in which most pop culture artist shouldn't even be labeled as hip hop artist....
Reply:Everyone thinks Rap is just some fad.
Reply:hip hop is not dead! ppl r just confusing rap for hip hop...talkin bout b*tches n money...but thats not hip hop...rap is stupid...but its not the same as hip hop...i totally agree w/stunna* on this one.
Reply:hip hop is dead was put in there to make controversy and try to lean a miss hit album in the direction of a hit.
Reply:i honesly dunno
