Impossible Debate on Hip-Hop NEED HELP!!!?

Well, my teacher has given me an impossible assignment for a debate we're going to have soon. My teacher split the class into 3 sides on what hip-hop is. 1) Culture 2) Entertainment 3) Power. I got put into entertainment. Now keep in mind that this is a DEBATE. Hip-Hop IS entertainment, but it also culture. I have to write a page about the facts and info and ideas i'm going to say during the debate; Why hip-hop is entertainment and NOT culture and NOT power. Well of COURSE hip-hop is culture because entertainment is a branch of culture, which sucks. So i'm really desperate for any ideas you may have to help me out with this. Please don't spam with comments about how hip-hop IS culture and this assignment is impossible as I already know that. Also please don't tell me to "stop being lazy and do your own work" because I do do my own work. I've just come across something that I need other people's help on;since like I said, this assignment is IMPOSSIBLE! Ugh. Please help...

Impossible Debate on Hip-Hop NEED HELP!!!?
entertainment =

anything eminem does is entertainment.

rap as entertainment is a form of escapism not only for the artist but for the audience as well.

escapism = entertainment.

that is why a lot of rappers have TONS of cash in videos.

lots of new, unattainable cars

hot women in very few clothes.

biiiig houses in videos.

furs

diamonds.

entertainment.

selling an image.

that is why so many young, white youths today love rap. it is so far out of their purview of experience that it has become a form of entertainment.

look at jay z.

HOVA? really? REALLY???? jehovah?? the god of rap? the god of entertainment!!! the best at what he does.

he is the king of escapism.
Reply:hip hop is meant to be entertainment but some stupid folks out there take it to seriously and make it their culture.

Real gangsters hardly make any money they die for blocks they dont own and create nasty living conditions for honest hard working citizens.
Reply:I thought My info yesterday would be helpful please take a second look at some of the keywords and people and google/yahoo them to find more detail.

I'm sure you will find something helpful there.
Reply:He said he wants you to prove how Hip hop isn't a culture or a power but has entertainment??!?!?

Sounds like he's trying to get everyone who likes Hip Hop to dislike each other opinions..even if it's an school assignment or not.

Well...it's impossible to say Hip Hop is not an culture because basically one can't do without the others......

I think you should ask this teacher what is he trying to prove or what is he trying to do in the end when all the students finally get their debates ready.

Sounds like this teacher is trying to get everyone confused on what Hip Hop really is.
Reply:hip hop is entertainment and not culture or power because it doesnt decide who you are as a person it doesnt make you a christian or athiest or whatever... its not meant for you to change your lifestyle just because you listen to it... you could look like the bigest hick ever but you still can listen to hip hop and you dont have to change...
Reply:Hip Hop is entertainment because it stimulates and captivates your senses. You feel the beat in the middle of your chest, you hear the rhymes of the MC and how the two just flow together, you can see the style of the clothes and the dance moves. It makes you want to move. You can take somebody that has never heard anything about hip hop, it's culture, or the influence it has on the world today, and they will be ENTERTAINED. If it didn't entertain people it would never had risen to the heights it's at today. You have to ENTERTAIN before you can INFLUENCE . It's like the teacher at the school, if he doesn't get your attention and make you interested, you will never learn. Hip Hop is entertainment with a message(sometimes), and the more people that are entertained, the more that will get the message, and the more people that get the message will lead to the message having power.
Reply:Yea it is impossible...Im with De...I guess if you dont live the culture u could make it seem like entertainment...SO like De said try using failed rappers like Vanilla Ice or MC Hammer...Vanilla Ice didnt live what he claimed he did...so that makes him fake imo for entertainment purposes. Iono its seems to be a tuff one...Or you can focus on the suburban youth that take hip hop for a fad.
Reply:woah..this is a pretty complex assignment...

sorry...but this is BS!

unless your teach dont no nothing about hip-hop

most definately a trend/culture AND power..

diddy's one of the most powerful people in the biz
Reply:to be honest with u ur teacher did a horrible job splitting u guys up cause shes tearing down all of what hip hop is to make it into something else i think this was a thing that shouldnt have been done but all i can tell u is the only was to seperate the three is to use the failed rappers of hip hop to say its entertainment
