Hip Hop music becoming repetitive?

Lately, i've been listening to the radio and there's like NO good hip hop song BECAUSE they all sound the same. It's like every rapper is jumping on the SAME bandwagon!

Everyone has been saying that..I even notice radio stations playing more older hits than before..instead of having 2 they have like 10..

Before there used to be different kinds of rap/hip hop

you had Jay-Z..which is a commercial rapper

Nas..more concious lyrics

Tupac..Mixture of everything

Cash Money...money cars..women

Will Smith..Fun and curse-free

Busta Ryhmes...Sick beats, sick video, sick ryhming!

Now everything is either southern style or new york style! What happened to the choices!!

Don't they know people love new styles to music?

****People..plz don't tell me to listen to something else B/C I love hip hop and I just want to hear that next big HIT that's different from the rest!***

Hip Hop music becoming repetitive?
That is true. What needs to happen is that everyone needs to just do themselves. No one wants to just talk about what they feel and be true to themselfs. Than the fans don't help either. the public has no backbone and are always ready to jump ship. This leaves artist scared to venture out. Like in my opinion the worst rapper in the game right now is 50 cent. he keeps on selling because the world is full of followers. Look at what he has done in the last year made two songs about the same thing. "i get money" and "staright to the bank" oh and not to mention his g unit member scarppy money in the bank.Tthan he comes out with his latest addition the magic stick trilogy "amusement park" aka candy shop. Its so funny. No one want to rap positive like will smith cause than your called soft. So now people rap about the same thing and lie in their songs. we have created this not the record labels. If people dont sell than things have to change. I for one am from the south and I love all the snapping and dancing because we need some fun in rap. Lets remember thats where it originated from fun "rappers delight.
Reply:yea i agree with you. the thing is that hip hop has phases and HOPEFULLY this is only a phase. it seems as if the industry is flooded with the sam ekind of rapper for a certain period of time, even in other genres of music, and then someone different comes out and just explodes. If you really love hip hop then go out and search for the people who are different, mostly local or underground, and support them because they need the support badly!
Reply:i feel da same way!!!1 but itz like we cnt do anything about it!! i kno im gettin sick of listening 2 a bay bay on the radio every other station. and then a song that sounds just like it after. if there were sum 1 person that i could send a letter 2 2 let them know about this...trust me, oh, i would. so ur not alone in how you feel
Reply:new styles are in underground music.

today's hip hop cant even be called that cuz its so bad
Reply:I agree with you 100%. %26amp; when you do go to New York, all they play is Cam'ron, Beyonce, %26amp; Jay-z %26amp; NOTHING ELSE! %26amp; in the south, it's all about that Atlanta Snap Music.
Reply:hey ima hip hop luver to.

and i noe sum1 hu works in a radio station, they just play the songs wanted by others. and also you culd try listening 2 kayne west, or game. , TI IS THE BEST. try him,

hope i helped
Reply:I agree but the sad thing is the majority want to hear the same debass crap...over and over ...(they request it) so that what they make to get heard ... all the good music is underground or old school...think about it..these rappers are trying to please the listeners (majority) and ignorant ppl are hyping them up... like the stupid song ..."lip gloss" its like what are you talking about?...so i decided to come out with a song called "cat litter"...lol or listen to the arrogance of 50 cent that being accepted "amusement park" thats your only accet...?...money... girls...cock..ok what else do have to bring to the table...? defintely not a brain...thats why i love the way he talked about his self in "wanksta"...thats how alot of these rappers are...and have molded our society to ignorance...instead of reality and orignality

THIS WOULDNT BE IF TUPAC WAS ALIVE...he wasnt afraid to talk about real issues or not be played on air and supported by many!!
Reply:I agree with you, everything is more southern now. I wouldn't say repetitive, I would just say they ran out of things to rap about, I mean come on now, were rapping about yelling to a girl "A BAY BAY" then talking about daily routines "Wipe me down" and food "chicken noodle soup" and simple human life "walk it out" i mean, I just don't know anymore. thn were talking about lip gloss?? come on now, next its gonna be about toothpaste.
Reply:Let me start off by saying that this rap game is not at all original anymore. People steal styles and use similar beats, in order for them to make the most money. We don't have a choice in this matter because whatever is played on MTV or BET is not controlled totally by the you. Many people enjoy the new dance craze in rap, and i can't stand it. I feel like the people are degrading themselves.

Look up in youtube.com about, I love Hip Hop, I hate sh*t hop, scroll through the user's videos, and look up the chackras of rap. You will then understand completely why this is happening, and it agrees with everything that you are saying. Im glad that more and more people are becoming aware of this problem that we are having in our music today, and its only a matter of time when it turns upside down, and good music will conquer. please take the time to look at the video on youtube. I listed the video link below, please be sure to check it out, and if you can read through some of the best answers I put on yahoo answers, it will explain more in depth. Thanks
Reply:Basically it boils down to people just rhyming about what they know. Most of the cats that are out right now (especially in the south) are not into concious hip-hop. If you live and grew up or have grown up in the south, then you would understand the individuals and why they rap about the things that they do.( money, women, drugs alcohol, guns, and weed etc.) because that is all that they know, that is what they grew up around. Then you take someone that has never really got much attention from a woman, and now with the fame comes women and something else for them to rap about. people only rap about what they know.
