to me hip-hop is still good but you have people saying its dead but i still theres hip-hop but nas made the album hip-hop is dead who thinks it is still there or is dead to you

Is hip-hop dead or is it still alive if not who is carring hip-hop?
hip hop isn't dead, but gangsta rap and all that hip hop about bling bling is dead .

Devin the Dude is the greatest rapper of all time, but he doesn't get mainstream attention because he doesn't rape about cars, clothes, money, and hoes
Reply:Yep, its still dead.
Reply:Hip-hop never died. It just went underground. Crunk is terrible...the people who said rap music wasn't music are right when they hear the crap they play on the radio these days.

Cool hip hop artists that are still going strong(there are lots more but here are a few of my faves):

MF DOOM

Atmosphere

Kanye West (commercial but real)
Reply:hip hop is dead for sure but gangster rap still lives and game is carring it...not for long his making his last album and retiring

hip hop died in 1996 with tupac

RIP
Reply:Underground and overseas is where it is. Gangsta Rap is dead. Mainstream is dying. But i love overseas like J-Rap:Teriyaki Boyz.. And underground is alive and beating.
Reply:I'm tired of this hip hop is dead crap.
Reply:Hip Hop is dead get over it
Reply:"Devin the Dude is the greatest rapper of all time, but he doesn't get mainstream attention because he doesn't rape about cars, clothes, money, and hoes" haha notice a typo there, people still asking this question damn? and to that guy who said mainstream hip hop is dead is wrong REAL hip hop is dead because of mainstream hip hop mainstream hip hop is alive and well because of 14 year old white suburban girls who dont fit in and think bein thugish is cool when it really aint so to answer this question thats repeated over and over agin hip hop is dead depending on what you listen to and if you listen to mainstream its not and i really dont think they care whats happenin to real hip hop and how real hip hop got them to the point where they are so **** mainstream and anythin associated with the **** your cars and hoes and chains nobody gives a **** i want rap that talks about what is really goin on not just about what they do or supposedly do **** mainstream STAY STRICTLY underground 1
Reply:mainstream hip-hop= DEAD!!!

underground/non-mainstream hip hop= good and alive!
Reply:Hip Hop is still alive but the originality and creativity of it is dead!!! everyone is copyin eachother talkin bout the same things. money, sex, violence is all people seem to know how to rap about. Hip hop is on life support right now but its still breathin!!
Reply:still alive. jus listen to all the underground! ya got lupe, papoose, common, ti and a bunch of others!
Reply:TO TELL U THE TRUTH I THINK ITS DEAD BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE MAKIN SONGS ABOUT ANYTHING PEOPLE MAKE THE DUMBEST SONGS FOR EXAMPLE:CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP,AUNT JACKIE,AND READ A BOOK .COME ON NOW WHAT HAPPENED TO HARD KNOCK LIFE,KEEP UR HEAD UP,AND ONE MORE CHANCE.COME ON NOW WHAT'S GOING ON???!!!
Reply:Hip- Hop isn't dead but its close

people need to stop blaming rap and grand theft auto for all of americas youth problems

after all lets not forget in the 80's all rockers were singing about drugs and sex
Reply:i think hip hop is dead and more people are starting to like punk and rock. i myself, like rock music and i used to like hip hop. i think gangsters and all of that stuff is lame.
Reply:Hip Hop and Rap is dead. The era of Hip-Hop began in the late 80's towards the early 2000's. Once 2005, Rap died and artists just began repeating themselves.

Late 90's:

- Skee-Lo

- Tupac

- Notorious B.I.G

- Fresh Prince

- Run DMC

- P. Diddy

- Snoop Dogg

- Rakim

- LL Cool J

- Nas

- Mase

-Early 2000's

- Eve

- Missy Elliot

- Eminem

- Jay-Z

- Snoop Dogg

- Left Eye

- Lil' Bow Wow

{and many more}

Modern 2000's (2005 till Present)

- T.I.

- Jay-Z

- Snoop Dogg

- Juelz Santana

- Cam'ron

- Lil Wayne

{and many more}

Whatever happened to useful songs: Hard Knock Life, I'll Be Missing you, Dance with me etc.

Rap Artists are making songs about anything nowadays. The graffiti that went with rap is slowly vanishing. The turn-tables and DJ's that went with rap is probably extinct. Its a sad fact but I hope the next big genre can be loosley affiliated with Rap.

Hip Hop is now dead. Rap is now dead.
Reply:yeah but the game is doing aigth
Reply:still alive coz im still hearing it...

IF HIP HOP IS DEAD.....

THERE WILL BE NO RAPPERS.....

AND HIP HOP SONGS ON THE RADIO.!
Reply:i dotn think hip hop is dead i believe that the hip hop game is changing and it`s turning into a movement. some artist are getting more involved. i believe common is carrying hip hop because his style is unquie but he still brings flavor and messages to the public.
Reply:Hip-hop is not dead. Kris says we are hip-hop, the bboys are hip-hop, the graff artists are hip-hop, the emcees are hip-hop, the turntabilists are hip-hop, I am hip-hop. Therefore, as long as we are alive, hip-hop is alive.

Yeah, mainstream hip-hop isn't really real hip-hop, so I guess you could say commercial rap is dead.
