Has Hip Hop Gone To Far?

I like hip hop. Mostly old school. Hip Hop artists use to rap about anything and the people(meaning girls) in the videos could actually dance. Now its all about seeing girls in it potrayed as sex objects and shaking their asses. And the lyrics are as dirty as they could be. They only talk about sex and money. What ever happened to the old school hip hop. I watched Vh1 New Presents:Hip Hop Videos-Sexploitation on The Set. And I even stayed up to see these so called Uncut videos on BET. And you don't even have to know who the artists are because all through the video you just see girls shaking their asses in thongs. I hate what I see. Yes we all now that these days sex sells ,but so what. Crack Sells. And not only are the girls in the videos putting out bad images about woman. Mostly African American Woman because they are mostly the ones in the videos.the I am only 15 years old and now I would just prefer to watch old school instead of new school. And r%26amp;b. Will It Ever Change?

Has Hip Hop Gone To Far?
It's a sign that hip hop has passed it's high water mark. It is similar to hair metal in the late 80s. Image has overpowered talent and the music. Now it's all about making a scene, wearing bling and making a name for yourself. All the top artists are known for other things besides their music.

Now you can get to the top by being in a movie, having a criminal record or starting fights at award shows. The name is bigger than the music and that's not a good thing.
Reply:It will change eventually, but it will probably take a really long time, like, 50-100 years. The world has lost its innocence. You see 12 year old girls on myspace wearing practically nothing with way too much makeup on. Abercrombie sells thongs for little girls. Even little babies wear bikini's that are too small.
Reply:Whoa whoa whoa, whoa......whoa. lol, I really think you are confused. I think that you are talking about rap music not hip-hop. And if you still think they are the same then wow you might need help.
Reply:I am 30yrs. old , so I basically grew up on old school style of rap. I agree with you on most of the rap that's selling today is very misogynistic and violent, however, there are still some positive rap artists' out there, such as; Common, Talib Kweli, and The Roots. Rap is certainly a true art form , but just like any other music, it comes down to whatever is going to sell some records but please don't stop being a fan of the music just because of a what you see on the t.v or hear on the radio. Check out some of those artists that I mentioned and I guarantee that you will change your mind about it.
Reply:When you have no message you have to sell out to make it.

Fight the power that be.
Reply:first off I never liked rap or hip hop I reflexively change the station the instant any of the cra*p comes on....but I don't see how any music or musican can go to far....that's what they do go as far as they can push the envelope push all the buttons get as much attention and plubicity positive or negitive to sell their records........They want to make money its not about music its about money.....if it were about music don't you think 2pac would have been still alive? Shug nite don't give a crap about rap he only want dollars

Its gone to far when you people start turning the station dial and putting on something that s going to strenthen your mind and not chain your mind to self destrutive anthems of viloence and sex and depravity. Free your mind and listen to an audio book instead,
Reply:I know. All I hear is about sex, money, gangs, etc.
Reply:it went to far when it was first started. it takes no ability or skills
Reply:if rap depended solely on the value of the "music" it wouLd not Last Long.
Reply:You need to stop waching and supporting them and if everyone does the same, they'll know that this rubbish doesn't sell anymore and stop, but until people who are stupified by this junk keep litening, watching, and buysing intot his crap, then it'll stay.

Just don't support them and let everyone you know as well so that they'll hopefully stop as well.
Reply:yeah in most places mostly in da da degrain of woman.

love yo sis lmao
Reply:yes it has gone to far

no it will not change - only for the worse
