Is Hip Hop Dead Rhyme?

They say that hip hop is dead and I almost believe it,

Remember back in the day how we used to receive it

as a gift to uplift or edify the community

now it seems like it's destroying the unity

of a people that's on the verge of genocide,

hip hop done took a stark slide

into a place where no one wants to go, methinks it's time for a brotha with soul and courage

to stand up to the forces that be

all they think about is that green stuff called money,

makin' it rain, ain't no shame in they game,

no worries as long as they have fame.

But I recall how things used to be,

hip hop carried the torch for the man who had a dream

or as Maya said when verses she gave

"I am the hope and the dream of the slave."

When will hip hop stop contributing to suicide? Can it no positive messages derive?

As Boogie Down has reminded us, it's self-destruction,

maybe now that hip hop is dead, we can start the construction or the instauration of a people that just might be

kings and queens again,

we'll see

Is Hip Hop Dead Rhyme?
Hip Hop aint dead. Who said Hip Hop dead. Hip Hop aint dead it live in the SOUTH!
