If hip hop is not dead, do you think it's on life support?

Some may disagree, but I can't stand most hip hop today. I miss the days, especially the mid-90s when hip hop was at it's prime. When you could turn on the radio, and a decent artist would always be done, whether that be Nas, Jay Z (mid 90s mind you), Pharcyde, A Tribe Called Quest, Bone Thugs, etc....

Now you turn on the radio, and all you get is "icebox" "chicken noodle soup" and endless amounts of crunk.

Yes it's true that you can still find good hip hop, but you have to find them...Mr. Lif, Tabib Kweli, The Roots, Mos Def, Atmosphere, J5...but I miss the days when you could just turn on the radio and hip hop was good.

For those who will say, hip hop sucks...well there's a reason you say that, it's because most hip hop of today does suck, but I love music of all kind, I listen to Andrea Bocelli, Weezer, Norah Jones, Nina Simone, etc...hip hop is just another form of expression...it's just the majority of artist today just want money and not substance..

Agree or disagree?

If hip hop is not dead, do you think it's on life support?
Agree. It hasn't been creative since the 90s alright. This is why you have to look underground for the good stuff now. 'Cause MTV %26amp; BET sure ain't airin' it....
Reply:I agree early 90s hip hop was bumpin but todays hip hop not really doin it anymore hip hops had a good run think its time for black culture to try something new 20 years probably most fashionable fad but every generation changes need something fresh
